Abstract: Mosaicing is essential for accurate imaging at millimeter wavelengths. In this paper, I outline some of the technical advantages of mosaicing, and I demonstrate the importance of the minimum edge-to-edge dish separation, Smin − D, in determining large-scale flux recovery. Mosaicing, together with image deconvolution, offers significant advantages for observing elongated structures. This technique may help with the imaging of spiral galaxies, where rotation tends to confine emission in any given channel to long, thin structures.
