Abstract: We have carried out N-body/SPH modeling and obtained BV RKs and Hα photometry of the barred galaxy NGC 1530 to investigate the conditions under which HII regions form and their spatial relation to the principal dynamical features of the bar. We find differences between the Hα equivalent widths of the HII regions of the trailing and leading zones of the bar. This result is interpreted in terms of an age effect, which constrains models of massive star formation in bar environments.
