Abstract: Recently it has become apparent that a full understanding of the origins of molecular clouds requires an understanding of the structure and kinematics of the surrounding and embedded atomic phase gas. Currently HIA is surveying the nearby Cepheus Flare and Perseus molecular cloud complexes using the DRAO synthesis telescope (ST). The ∼ 1′ resolution of these surveys combined with the wide-field capability of the DRAO ST will result in very high spatial dynamic range maps of these regions and facilitate the comparison of two low-mass star forming regions.
