Abstract: We present the first preliminary results of a project to obtain ages, metallicities, and radial velocities of young star clusters in merging galaxies. About one dozen star clusters have been identified in NGC 3256 with velocities within 200 km/sec of the galaxy's systemic velocity from MOS spectroscopy with GMOS-S on Gemini South. The spectra of the bona-fide clusters show a range of spectral types from clearly very young clusters to probably older systems with weaker Balmer lines.
