Abstract: In considering the structures of disk-halo boundaries, it is important to include the range of possible halo structures. These can be roughly divided between quasi-static halos that are in near equilibrium states and halos that evolve in response to gas or power inflows from embedded disks or the wider surroundings. Superwinds in starburst galaxies are extreme examples of evolving halos, and we consider the nature of such systems from the perspective of new studies of the archetypal starburst galaxy, M82.
