Abstract: The discovery of over 60 blazars (e.g. BL Lacs, FSRQs) by EGRET suggests the idea of a superposition of unresolved AGN as the origin of the extragalactic gamma-ray background (=3DEGRB). To estimate the contribution of unresolved FSRQs and BL Lac objects to the EGRB in the EGRET energy range we present a model which is based on the non-thermal leptonic emission processes known to be important in blazar jets and the unification scheme of radio-loud AGN. According to this picture BL Lacs and FSRQs are the parent population of FR I- and FR II-radio galaxies, respectively. Using the well-known properties of these FR-galaxies we calculated the gamma-ray emission of these objects which fall below the EGRET-sensitivity limit due to a large viewing angle and/or a low intrinsic luminosity. Recent results are presented.
