Abstract: We present a brief review of the most recent research having to do with the Galactic globular clusters (GCs). Because these systems are thought to be the oldest stellar aggregates in the Milky Way, studies of their properties probe the earliest formation epochs of the Galaxy. The spatial, metallicity, and age distributions of the GCs are discussed along with the implications of these properties for the formation of the Galactic halo.
