Abstract: For almost three decades, brown dwarfs have been the ``prime suspects'' in the hunt for baryonic dark matter. However, with brown dwarf searches now achieving success in almost every area of study, we are finding that the star formation process does not seem to produce mass functions which can hide significant dark matter in brown dwarfs.
