Abstract: We present near-infrared (NIR) spectra of two IRAS Ultraluminous Galaxies (ULIRG): IRAS 17208-0014 and IRAS 19254-7245. The optical spectrum of IRAS 1720 is typical of an HII galaxy, while the spectrum of IRAS 1925 shows characteristics of a Seyfert 2 galaxy. Bright emission lines ([FeII], H2 and Br lines) are detected in the NIR spectra of both galaxies, along with stellar absorption features. A description of the NIR spectra is presented here. This is a preliminary study aimed to optimizing the observations of a larger sample of ULIRG galaxies.
