Abstract: A brief review of the life and work of A.W.J. Cousins is presented. Perhaps best known for his work on accurate standard star photometry, including the Cousins V(RI)_c system, he discovered and observed many variable stars and found the prototype "gamma Dor'' variable star. His publication baselin e of 77 years is probably a record!
