Abstract: We report preliminary results on the analysis of the X-ray spectrum of the Tycho Supernova Remnant, aimed at determining the explosion mechanism associated with its Type Ia progenitor event, the Supernova of 1572. This work is based on an extensive grid of synthetic spectra generated from hydrodynamic and nonequilibrium ionization calculations of the interaction of several Type Ia explosion models with a uniform ambient medium. The best results are obtained with a 1D delayed detonation model of moderate energy, interacting with an ambient medium of density ρAM = 2 • 10−24 g cm−3.
