Abstract: We examine a class of Stephani cosmological s as a prototype of nonhomogeneous s in which accelerated expansion appears naturally, without postulating dark energy or any modification of Einstain's equations. We demonstrate that Stephani well fits currently avaliable SN Ia data at the same level of accuracy as the concordance ΛCDM . The different statistical methods are used to obtain best fit and most probable values of the parameter in this context. The complementary analysis of the age of the oldest astronomical objects as a method of estimate parameter is also used to confirm our analysis. We also consider the influence of the value of transition redshift. Our results can suggest the existence of nontrivial relation between nonhomogeneity and acceleration of the Universe.
