Abstract: The supernova rate is an invaluable tracer of star formation rate, which is a crucial ingredient of galaxy formation and evolution scenarios. Here we describe a supernova searching program with the VLT Survey Telescope, designed to measure the rate for all supernova types in the redshift range 0.3 < z < 0.7.
