Abstract: It is often said that one learns by one's mistakes. Based upon this criterion, I can claim to have extensive knowledge of low frequency radio astronomy. In this paper I'll describe my experiences in this field in the hope that this may help people avoid a few pitfalls in the design and construction of the LWA. I'll also expand upon the title to include some early experiences before I began work at Clark Lake.
