Abstract: NASA’s Science Mission Directorate education and public outreach (EPO) program will provide a series of monthly space science features and describe a celestial “object of the month” that can be observed via the naked eye, binoculars, amateur telescopes, or online facilities to inspire and engage audiences during the International Year of Astronomy. NASA EPO partners will also use these topics and objects in their International Year of Astronomy events and programs. This conference proceedings contribution provides a preliminary description of the NASA calendar of topics and objects to be highlighted at http://astronomy2009.nasa.gov.
