Abstract: In this contribution we study the effective temperature of ionizing clusters of HII regions by means of the so-called softness parameters, as defined using some bright emission lines in the optical and the mid-infrared part of the spectrum. We then explore the galactocentric variation of these parameters across the star-forming regions of the discs of spiral galaxies. We find that the existence of a gradient is not universal, but that its presence and strength is unexpectedly correlated with other properties of the host galaxy.
