Abstract: We present two epochs of FUSE spectra of the z=0.0296 Seyfert 1 galaxy Mrk 290. The Broad Line Region (BLR) brightened over the eight months separating these observations. The spectra exhibit BLR emission from Ly γ, C III, N III, Ly β, O VI, S IV, and He II and Narrow Line Region (NLR) emission from C III, Ly β, and O VI. Intrinsic absorption of Ly γ, Ly β, and O VI is detected at a velocity of ∼−238kms−1. The line profiles of the sub-components are narrow, FWHM ∼45kms−1, and the O VI absorption is saturated with a near unity (∼0.9) covering fraction (Cf ). Additional modelling is required to set limits on the absorption by the lower ionization C III and N III ions.
