Abstract: The temporal and spectral analysis of seventeen flares observed in six G-K dwarfs by XMM-Newton is presented here. The exponential decay of the X-ray light curves, and time evolution of the plasma temperature and emission measure are similar to those observed in compact solar flares. The loop length of flare is derived using various loop models including state-of-the-art hydrodynamic flare model and found to be much less than the stellar radius. For most of the flares, we have also found that the decay path of the flare is driven by sustained heating.
