Abstract: We present an algorithm to find topological x-points and x-lines in the gridded data from plasma simulations. The algorithm is different from algorithms that find topological nulls, and also finds x-line topology when a guide field is present. We present an example of an OpenGGCM simulation of magnetic reconnection at Earth's magnetosphere, and we discuss the dependence of the results on the free parameter present in the algorithm.
