Abstract: High-quality integrated radio profiles of some pulsars contain double, highly symmetric absorption features (double notches). They can be interpreted as an imprint of the microscopic beam of curvature radiation in the orthogonal polarization mode. This model explains: 1) the double and symmetric form of double notches; 2) high-polarization degree of the emission that contains the notches; 3) the rate of merging of the minima in the notches with increasing frequency ν; 4) the shape of double notches observed in B1929+10; 5) fixed (ν-independent) location of notches in the pulse profiles. Oblique cuts of sightline through the notches can furthermore explain their observed size and imperfections of symmetry. The same beam which is observed as the notches, is likely responsible for the bifurcated emission components observed in pulse profiles of some pulsars.
