Abstract: We present the physical properties of the regions in the atmospheres of solar type stars where the atomic spectral lines are forming. We used selected spectra from ELODIE library to measure the width of the Balmer, sodium, and magnesium lines. The results allowed us to infer the temperature and the total particle number density of the regions where each line is forming. The physical conditions obtained in this work were compared with the results of stellar atmosphere models.
