Abstract: We present preliminary results of an investigation aimed at establishing the correlation between the mid-UV MgII h and k lines and the rotational period of G-Type stars. We collected the high resolution spectra of a small sample of stars extracted from the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) archives. The far more intense MgII lines with respect to CaII appear well correlated with rotational period, showing very little scatter. These UV features seems to be a promising tool for dating stars on the main sequence.
