Abstract: In the last 25 years, the development of local techniques have expanded the capabilities of helioseismology inferences, opening the possibility of short-term identification of solar phenomena that have strong potential for space weather nowcasting and forescasting. In this paper, I review the current state of different helioseismic investigations with promising results in this field, including far-side maps and the solar models incorporating them for space weather applications, pre-emerging active regions signatures and flare-related subsurface manifestations.
