Abstract: For the National Park Service and NASA, collaborating on outreach and education for the 2017 total solar eclipse was an obvious choice. In settings of natural and cultural wonder people often experience a widening of perspective and a deepening of appreciation and understanding of the world around them. Prior collaborations had clearly shown that combining NASA's unique science assets with the place-based experiences in National Parks provides visitors with highly meaningful, rich educational experiences. Additionally, each agency brought assets that supported the other's goals for eclipse events. Both agencies reported excellent results from the coordinated approach to events held in parks. Each benefitted from the others' strengths, AND feedback FROM the public, students AND educators indicated that experiencing the eclipse IN park settings greatly enhanced their experience AND expanded their awareness AND knowledge of BOTH agencies' stories. Here we describe the NASA-NPS interagency collaborative effort in eclipse communications, education, and event support. We provide national and local scale highlights of our activities. Based upon each agency's experiences we provide a thorough list of recommendations for April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse outreach planners.
