Abstract: Over the past nine years, the Astrophysics Source Code Library (ASCL, ascl.net) has grown from a small repository holding about 40 codes with hand-coded HTML pages to a resource with citable entries on over 2000 codes in a modern user- and editor-friendly database structure maintained by volunteers. Since code authors, researchers, and journal editors depend on this resource, the ASCL wants to examine its governance and management to determine whether its current structure best serves it and the astronomy community and ensures its longevity, and requested a Birds of a Feather (BoF) session at ADASS to start a community discussion. ADASS participants joined members of the ASCL advisory committee for this open discussion on what a new governance model for the ASCL might be.
