Abstract: In this proceeding, the ADASS XXXI Local Organising Commitee (LOC) describes the hybrid format of this edition of ADASS. ADASS XXXI was one of the first large hybrid-format conferences of the COVID-19 era. Due to the pandemic and associated safety considerations, the conference had a minority (13%) in-person setting. Overall the LOC received positive feedback for this hybrid event, which enabled us to reach both a wide audience as well as bring back (at least to some degree) the networking that can only be provided by a face-to-face meeting. Participants generally share the opinion that all future events should be hybrid to allow participants to join without incurring the expense to traveling on a yearly basis, and to ease access for those who cannot easily travel due to existing health conditions and/or disabilities.
