Between 2018 and 2022, staff and volunteers at the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory (FLWO) embarked on a mission to update the Observatory's informal learning efforts, including a revamp of its public education programming and a full transformation of its Visitors Center into a Science Center. This paper summarizes and supports the presentation given at the 2022 annual conference of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, which detailed the criticality of the project to the surrounding communities and the future of Whipple Observatory, key considerations learned during the process and how other institutions can learn from these revelations, and future expectations. |
