Abstract: |
As of 2023, an estimated 4.9 billion people worldwide use social media. Platforms are competing for this audience's attention, offering a variety of ways for social media creators to distribute information, engage with users, and build online communities around shared interests. With dazzling imagery and intriguing mysteries, space science is perpetually popular with social audiences. But telling the stories of science on social media can be daunting, as you grapple with challenges including limits on characters and multimedia, ever-changing trends, and the extremely short attention spans of users scrolling through endless social feeds. In this presentation, we'll discuss some of the strategies we've used on NASA Universe to create successful social media campaigns on X, Facebook, and Instagram around launches, anniversaries, and other themes. We'll share our tips and tricks for choosing the right platform(s) for your content, leveraging collaborations, inviting conversation, and more. And we'll answer your questions about building a social media campaign that will hook your audience and keep them coming back for more. |
