Abstract: The ambitious and challenging scientific goals of the Habitable Worlds Observatory will require cutting-edge technology to ensure the success of this flagship mission. The Laboratory of Vacuum Ultraviolet (LUV), located at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), has been specifically designed and established to perform experimental tests on the optical properties of filters, prisms, and other optical elements across the 115-400 nm wavelength range. LUV is equipped with the necessary capabilities to develop optical simulators of large structures for testing within this wavelength regime and to monitor surface roughness at the nanometric scale.
