Abstract: In this paper we study the influence of massive stars above 40 M on the chemical evolution of the early Galaxy by means of a two-infall Galaxy formation scenario that includes detailed single- and binary-star evolution. We also focus on the supernova rates and formulate an argument that is in favour of stellar-wind mass loss during the pre-Wolf-Rayet phases and during the Wolf-Rayet phase that depends on the abundance of heavy metals.
