Abstract: A new calibration of the Wilson-Bappu effect is presented using data from the archives of the International Ultraviolet Explorer satellite. Only overexposed spectra allow the observation of the full base width of the Mg II K line. Two calibrations each are derived containing a sample of 20 stars. In one, the absolute magnitudes are obtained from parallaxes greater than 0.045 arcsec. In the other, the absolute magnitudes come from Ca II K line width measurements and application of the Wilson-Bappu effect.
