Abstract: Estimates of the local Galactic cosmic-ray energy density are examined to study the propagation of cosmic rays in Galactic magnetic fields and the distribution of cosmic ray nuclei. The results of gamma-ray measurements and radio data are compared to analytical predictions of cosmic ray propagation using data on Be-10 decay. The results are consistent and suggest a thick-disk thickness of about 3 Kpc which is within the uncertainties of the radial profiles of pulsars and other cosmic-ray emission sources.
