Abstract: This paper reports a number of significant hardware developments which will enhance SETI science using the Southern Serendip spectrometer on the Parkes Radio Telescope. Firstly, the expansion of the number of channels from 8.4 Million total to 58.8 Million. Secondly, a new down- converter system which will allow all thirteen beams of the HI receiver to be simultaneously sampled and cross correlated in post processing to improve RFI rejection. And lastly, the addition of a spectral accumulator which may be used to sum complete FFT spectra when the telescope is locked to a sky point. The current FFT cycle time is 1.7s and the new accumulator increases this indefinitely. The latter, together with post processing de-dispersion techniques, allows improved detected power sensitivity of potential ETI signals.
