Abstract: We report on some preliminary results of the analysis of AB Doradus light curves in the time interval between 1979 and 1997. The maximum brightness of the star has been decreasing almost linearly from 1979 to 1989 and increasing always since, although with a less steep slope. The total time employed by the star to perform this variation is between 18.5 and 21.2 years. A Fourier analysis of the light minima during the same interval reveals a shorter variation, with a period of 5.3 years. We have also analyzed and modelled V light and (V-R)c and (V-I)c colour curves at 12 different epochs from 1987 to 1997. The information about the distribution of spots on the photosphere of the star has been extracted from the observed data by fitting synthetic light and colour curves computed with the code spotpic. In this contribution, we present some results concerning the parameters of the spots and their variations in the time interval studied.
