Abstract: We present high time resolution VLT+FORS spectroscopy of SDSS J1240−01, a new helium-transferring binary star identified in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We measure an orbital period of 37.35 ± 0.01 minutes, confirming beyond doubt the AM CVn nature of the system.
