Abstract: Our on-going Hα imaging survey has revealed early-type (Sa-Sab) spirals to be a heterogeneous class of galaxies. This diversity is also apparent in their HII region luminosity functions. We find that the diversity in star formation properties of Sa-Sab galaxies cannot be explained solely by a change in the total number of HII regions, or by a difference in the average number density of HII regions.
