Abstract: Examples of several different types of environmental interactions are found in the Virgo Cluster, including tidal interactions, mergers, gas accretion events, and intra-cluster medium (ICM)-interstellar medium (ISM) stripping. From an R-band and Hα imaging survey, we find that a significant fraction of Virgo spirals have no star formation in their outer disks, but normal or enhanced star formation rates in their inner disks. Most of these are systems with small bulge/disk ratios (B/D) misleadingly classified as early spiral types, and most are consistent with having experienced ICM-ISM stripping events. A particularly clear example of ICM-ISM stripping in action is seen in the highly inclined spiral NGC 4522, which has an extra-planar gas tail, as shown by new VLA HI and radio continuum observations.
