Abstract: We report the results of the near-infrared spectroscopic observations of brown dwarfs with the AKARI/IRC. The spectra covering 2.5–5.0 μm are significantly better quality than any previous observations ever made from the ground. So far spectra of seven objects are available. Their SEDs are consistent in principle with the prediction by the numerical model atmospheres including dust formation (Unified Cloudy Models; UCMs). We confirm the detection of CO absorption band in late-T dwarfs, supporting the idea of non-equilibrium processes contributing on the chemical abundance in these objects. In addition, we detect the CO2 band for the first time in brown dwarfs. The band commonly presents in the T-dwarfs. This could be a hint to understand the chemistry in the brown dwarf atmospheres.
