Abstract: Over the past decades a spectacular progress has been made in the fields of helio- and asteroseismology. The sophistication of theoretical models as well as the quality of observational datasets increased greatly. But as usually in science, for every question answered, at least two other questions popped up, and we still have a long way to go before we thoroughly understand such a seemingly simple thing as a star. With a strong emphasis on recent literature, I discuss the most important open questions of asteroseismology, such as how stellar oscillations can help us understand better stellar convection, diffusion and rotation.
