Abstract: We carried out multi-transition CO observations of the footpoint of the loops 1 and 2 discovered by Fukui et al. (2006). The aim of the observations is to clarify the detailed distributions of the gas and estimate the temperature and density of the shocked gas inside the footpoint. As a result, we find "U-shapes" in the footpoint and discuss that the U shapes indicate downflows of the gas from loops 1 and 2 that merge at the footpoint. We also find that a broad feature in the U shape shows the highest temperature of ∼>100 K. Compared with the study on the solar surface, magnetic reconnection is a possible candidate to explain the hottest clump and U shape simultaneously.
