| Abstract: |
The 1988 paper by Lyne and Manchester (LM88) analysed the existing pulsar
mean-pulse profile data and drew various conclusions about the shape
of pulsar radio beams and the emission processes that underlie
them. In this paper I review some of the main conclusions of LM88,
particularly relating to the idea of “patchy” beams, and discuss the
impact of more recent data on these conclusions. |
