Abstract: Studies of turbulence in molecular clouds largely rely on statistical methods. We compared several statistical quantities and discussed their potential applications. We found that core velocity dispersion (CVD) can be used to constrain the thickness of a cloud and estimate the turbulence energy dissipation rate.
