Abstract: SciGirls is an Emmy Award-winning transmedia project based on best practices for engaging elementary and middle school-age girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). At its heart is a television series on PBS designed specifically for girls produced by Twin Cities PBS (TPT) for the PBS network. Five seasons have been funded by the National Science Foundation, and in 2019, TPT received funding from NASA for a new season focused on space science. SciGirls includes an extensive collection of hands-on NGSS-aligned STEM activities and offers professional development in research-based gender equitable teaching strategies for educators. SciGirls CONNECT is a robust network of girl-serving educators that includes 200 partners nationwide including science centers, schools, universities and community-based organizations.
