Abstract: In this paper, X-ray crystallography is used to determine the structure of the rubredoxin protein of the piezophile (pressure-loving) Pyrococcus yayanosii (Py). The Fe-containing Py rubredoxin (Rd) protein sample was crystallized using a procedure that was successful for that of the closely related hyperthermophile (heat-loving) Pyrococcus furiosus Rd. One of the produced crystals underwent X-ray data collection, structure determination, and refinement. The experimental structure was then analyzed with the structure model produced by a protein folding AI prediction resource, AlphaFold. The experimental and the computer-generated model structures were highly similar.
