Abstract: The peculiar system HD 34921/4U 0515+38 is, together with CI Cam, one of the two only HMXRB with a dust shell, typical of B[e] stars. We present here the first high-resolution spectrum of the optical counterpart HD 34921 and show that this system is unusual in many respects and in many ways unique.
