Abstract: Distances to eight galactic globular clusters (M2, M4, M5, M15, M22, M92, NGC 6397, and 47 Tuc) are derived by comparison of proper motions and radial velocities of cluster stars, which are related via King-Michie type dynamical models. The resulting distances, combined with published astrometric distances to M3 and M13, can be used to put a rather stringent limit on the absolute magnitude of the horizontal branch at [Fe/H] = -1.6, which is found to be M_V = 0.61 +/- 0.05.
