Abstract: Moderate resolution spectra of the O I triplet feature near 7770 Angstroms have been obtained for 40 stars near the base of the giant branch in the globular cluster M 13 to determine the average abundance of oxygen in this cluster. The spectra of all 40 stars, which are of similar temperature and surface gravity, have been combined to produce a single, high signal-to-noise ratio spectrum from which we can derive an upper limit on the average oxygen abundance in relatively unevolved stars in M 13.
