Abstract: We have developed an algorithm to find variable sources in X-ray data. This algorithm is designed for use as a first-look analysis of the data to find regions of interest which may then be analyzed in detail by other means. We detect these `interesting' regions in the data by first estimating the expected counts in each pixel, and then comparing it to the actual number of counts observed. We show the results of applying this algorithm to ROSAT PSPC and HRI data of the Pleiades Cluster.
