| Abstract: |
AIPS++ is a large astronomical data analysis system which is being developed using object-oriented techniques. It is being written in the C++ language. As the first such major effort in the astronomical community, and the largest to date, the AIPS++ project has discovered many issues---technical, cultural, and managerial---that other organizations may encounter in their own object-oriented efforts. This paper describes the good and bad experiences of the AIPS++ project in dealing with those issues. |
