Abstract: We present preliminary results of the analysis of line-profile variability of the Be star l Eri from two campaigns in February and November, 1994, in which the HeI l6678 line and the photometric variations were monitored. We have detected significant radial velocity variations in this line (2K=20 km-1 in Feb. and 2K=45 km-1 in Nov.), but the equivalent width variations is very small both in February (quiescent phase) and in November (Be emission phase). We have confirmed the existence of a 16.9 hr periodicity from the period analysis of line-profile variations. A 6.45 hr period is also detected in both seasons, which is the one-day alias of a signal claimed in earlier studies. We discuss the periodic variability in terms of nonradial pulsations. Transients features are frequently observed in the line profile. Such features are well documented in our campaign data which have good temporal coverage (especially in one observing run). We discuss a possible relationship between the occurrence of the transients and the 16.9 hr periodicity.
